Discovery Park, Sandwich, Kent
Discovery Park Ltd
A legacy requirement following the acquisition of the site, the owners required the efficient and secure demolition of a research / laboratory building at Discovery Park. The building contained significant scientific fit-out elements including significant specialist services installations. The structural engineering of the building was complex for the scale and anticipated loads.

The key drivers for the project include:

  • Cost certainty prior to commitment to construct
  • Procure effectively and efficiently
  • Draft and agree contract using Infrastructure Conditions of Contract (ICC) Minor Work Version (Aug 2011)
  • Execute the works efficiently and securely within a 16-week programme
  • Ensure no disruption or interference to adjacent Pfizer facilities

Project works commenced in July 2016 with the works completed in 16 weeks by Aspect Four Demolition Services. No injuries or reportable incidents and the final account agreed on completion, on budget.
